Mary C. Shevlin's parents were Owen McCue and Mary McArdle, both born in New York. Mary was born August 10, 1851 in Rondout, New York.

Daniel was a saddler with the Minnesota Cavalry and according to Beer's History of Greene County, New York he was "captured by Morgan". The reference is probably toJohn Tyler Morgan, confederate cavalry officer who at one time was Colonel of the 51st Alabama Cavalry.
